OK, I'm supposed to list my interests and hobbies here.
Hmmm, lets see...what do I like to do on my 'time off' (whatever that is).

 | Computers -- I still like to 'play' with computers
even though that's what I do for a living. I guess I'm just a glutton
for punishment! I built the computer that this site is running on from
parts from an old Gateway (an original 60 MHz Pentium machine) that didn't
have the power to run my DSL connection, ICS (Internet Connection Sharing),
and the Apache server software. It's based on an AMD 850 MHz
Duron processor with 128 Meg memory, and disks/keyboard/CRT/NIC from the
old Gateway. <$300 |
 | Kids -- naturally, my kids keep me busy.
Keeping them entertained cuts into my work time, so I'm often up til 11, 12,
or 1 in the morning trying to get some real work done. However, I
consider my time with my family well spent. As you may (or may not)
know, after Cheryl was diagnosed with Breast Cancer this spring, my
priorities have definitely changed! Even more time to family! |

Lawn Mowing -- If I'm not programming or
with the family, you can usually find me mowing somewhere. What with
the front, back and side yards, front gully, and back gully, I keep pretty
busy. I keep saying that I'm going to clean up the 'back 40' (actually
the back 1 1/2) sometime, but I never can seem to find enough
round2its. Oh well, someday... |
 | Karate -- Alex started Karate about 4 years ago,
and he finally got me interested and signed up last July. He is now a
First Degree Black Belt, and I've achieved the rank of Red Belt! Who'd
of thought an old guy like me could get into Karate? But it's fun,
there are lots great people, and its a great chance for me to keep in shape
while having fun--I never could get interested in exercise just for the sake
of exercise.

 | Cub Scouts - Alex has been a Cub Scout ever since the 1st
grade as a Tiger Scout in the brand new Pack 898. The following year,
as a Wolf Scout, I started helping as the Assistant Den Leader with Tracy
Brown. I'm still the assistant, but now that Alex is a WeBeLos, I'm
now the Assistant Patrol Leader. I've also been 'volunteered' to be
the Awards Chairman for the Pack this year, so that's all keeping me busy
too. So far, since becomming a WeBeLos, Alex and I have been on
3 camp-outs, with about 2 or 3 more planned for next year.
|
 | Boy Scouts - Well, Alex moved up to the Boy Scouts in the
spring, and has joined up with Troop
1993 which meets at our own church! Very handy.
